Your First Dive in the Red Sea: What Actually Happens
No certificate, no experience, and a maximum depth of twelve metres. Here is the whole day, hour by hour.
Before you leave the hotel
You will fill in a medical questionnaire. Answer it honestly — asthma, heart conditions and recent surgery are not automatic disqualifications, but they need a doctor's signature, and that cannot be arranged on the pier.
On the boat
The briefing takes about thirty minutes and covers four skills: breathing from the regulator, clearing water from your mask, recovering the regulator if it leaves your mouth, and equalising your ears on the way down.
The first descent
You go down a line, feet first, one metre at a time. Every metre you stop and equalise. If your ears hurt, you rise slightly — never push through pain.
The reef dive
Maximum twelve metres, one instructor to two guests, roughly forty minutes in the water. You will not be asked to navigate, manage your own air, or do anything except breathe and look.
After
No flying for eighteen hours. Drink more water than you think you need, and expect to be tired by early evening.
